Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Admissions and Placement Testing Officer is a member of the Registrar’s Office team who is responsible for performing vital administrative functions within the Admissions unit, including, but not limited to: evaluating Applications for Admission, issuing acceptance letters, placement testing services, as well as student financial aid. The Admissions and Placement Testing Officer is also responsible for the day-to-day administration and marking of Placement Tests in various subjects (e.g., English, Mathematics), delivered both on campus and online.

WORK WEEK:
The Employee will work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in English or linguistics (other majors may be considered based on other certifications and experience)
- Minimum of one-year related work experience in an administrative role. Work experience within an educational setting is considered an asset.
- TESL, TEFL, or TESOL certification is preferred
- Prior work experience teaching English, proctoring exams, and/or marking exams is preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment
- Native or bilingual proficiency in English (the ability to produce professional written work for external communications and publications is required)
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and accurate
- Superior problem-solving capabilities
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills, including the ability to confidently deliver presentations and workshops, in both face-to-face and virtual settings
- Highly efficient, able to multitask, and effectively handle multiple deadlines and projects
- Highly adaptable to working independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g., Outlook, Word) Superior proofreading and error checking capability
- Ability to record, listen to, and mark spoken test components using a voice recording device and grading rubric
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
Placement Testing
- Administer an online Placement Test booking system, assist students to book, change or cancel appointments
- Coordinate with English Department, EAP Department, and Math & Science Department regarding the regular retirement and replacement of test versions
- Invigilate/proctor placement test sessions, delivered in-person and online (separately), with careful attention and assertiveness
- Use rubrics to perform marking of test submissions, including written work, multiple choice, and speaking
- Participate in rubric review, marking calibration, and training exercises with the EAP and English Departments to ensure accurate placement
- Track and produce data for reports as requested
Admissions and Student Financial Aid
- Assess new student Application for Admission to determine admissibility and course/program eligibility based on established guidelines and policy
- Perform verification of credentials and scrutinize documentation for evidence of alteration
- Perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail using a database system
- Assist students to complete and submit forms
- Perform research into international educational systems and standards, as needed
- Provide general information on student financial aid eligibility, application procedure, repayment obligations, etc., to prospective borrowers
- Assist students to apply for financial assistance through StudentAid BC or other provincial loan program
- Complete funding eligibility and/or funding disbursement forms
- Maintain student financial aid records and communications with borrowers
Other
- Assist other units in the Office of the Registrar during busy times (e.g., responding to emails, phone calls, paperwork, etc.)
- Provide assistance on projects or other tasks to the Registrar or other senior administrator as requested

Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Student Affairs Officer works in conjunction with the Director of Student Affairs, Student Affairs Division, Faculty and other staff to administer the school’s policies and advocate for students through the use of appeals for various processes throughout the College. Responsible for the Office of Student Affairs, the SAO works with the Director of Student Affairs to schedule appointments and process the forms related to misconduct, accommodations, deferrals, complaints and other types of intervention as relate to the Office of Student Affairs, tracking these for best practices and to uphold the standards of both the College and its Offices.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Director of Student Affairs (DSA)

Full-time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS
This position requires the Employee to work a 40 hour work week. The Employee is expected to work during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm). Occasional overtime may be required as well.

- Oversee Scheduling for Student Affairs Related Interventions.

- Be the point of contact for faculty related interactions with the OSA
- Coordinate and schedule meetings between students and the DSA in relation to processes regarding misconduct, appeals, expulsions, accommodations, etc.
