SoC Performance Verification engineer

The Role:

AMD Markham SoC team is hiring for its Markham location in Canada for the next-generation chip development project!

Key Responsibilities:

We are currently looking for a System-on-Chip Performance Verification Engineer who will be part of a team working on next generation of a complex SOC design for AI/ML applications . The successful candidate will play a key role in SOC verification performing the following duties for functional and performance aspects with RTL simulation and hardware emulation environment.

A truly multidisciplinary function, working in close collaboration with architects and front-end designers on the various SOC verification efforts, interacting with a wide variety of internal and external design verification/development teams, Design Verification methodology, and Silicon IP and tool vendors. Work with SOC and IP architects, Design and Design Verification teams to define, develop and execute SOC performance verification plan.

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of CPU/GPU computer architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of digital logic and circuits.
  • Strong knowledge of OO programming languages such as C++.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as PERL, PYTHON.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Good people skills. Organized and methodical with proven ability to plan and execute.

THE ROLE:

Be part of the Firmware Security team and contribute to pre-silicon and post-silicon firmware development.  The role touches on HW/FPGA/compiler knowledge to assembly/C programming with a great opportunity to learn about hardware security flow/algorithms and overall SOC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate flexibility, strong motivation and a proven record of meeting aggressive deadlines as well as the ability to work as part of a team
  • Must have proven abilities to solve critical software problems, and will be working with innovative managers and engineers to engineering the cutting-edge AMD silicon debug software.
  • As a member of the team, you will also be responsible for code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on-site and off-shore teams to deliver the software solution on schedule.
  • Will also be required a role in all phases of the software development as senior member that include system requirement analysis and coordinating feature design and developments with other departments.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience with: OO design, C/C++/Java/C#, and hardware/embedded debugging software required.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills required
  • Proven interpersonal skill, technical leadership and teamwork required.
  • Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle required.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Experienced project planning and prior leadership responsibilities preferred.
  • Experience working with off-shore teams preferred.

Asset:

  • The x86 micro-architecture, Embedded and/or ARMv8 knowledge and peripherals.
  • Development of JTAG testing and/or run-time debugging tools / software, e.g.DS-5, et al
  • Knowledge of DFT, JTAG, and System bring-up.
  • Familiarity with databus protocol such as SPI, I2C and PCIE

Linux Device Driver Developer (Machine Learning)

The Role:

Our team works on the ROCm Platform an open-source HPC/Hyperscale-class platform for GPU computing. We are looking for an experienced software engineer to develop, maintain, and support ROCm

THE PERSON:

Key Responsibilities:

The Domain Engineer will be responsible for defining and executing the end-to-end test plan and validation strategy for a set of AMD IP’s. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Driving technical innovation to enhance AMD’s capabilities in IP and cross-IP validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Debugging issues found during pre-silicon, “bringup”, validation, and production phases of SOC programs
  • Validating integrated hardware and software functionalities with all corners to ensure problem-free production
  • Leading collaborative test approach with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time

We are seeking an Engineer with strong programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python) and 2 to 10 years of experience in digital logic/platform design, verification, or post-silicon validation.

  • Extensive experience with ASIC debug techniques and methodologies
  • Extensive experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including clock/power delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization
