Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up, adjust, maintain and operate conventional lathes, mills, and other specialized or advanced tools in order to perform precision machining operations
• Repairing aeronautical products
• Performing close tolerance machining on a variety of special alloys and engineered coatings
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and specification manuals to determine best machining operation
• Perform precision measurements utilizing a variety of tools and instruments
• Work closely with various departments to support production deadlines and meet customer demands
• Participation with all Health and Safety rules and regulations
• Handle confidential information on a regular basis professionally and ethically
• Proactively participate in continuous improvement and 5S activities, taking responsibility to maintain an organized and effective working environment
• Comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with fellow employees, management and customers
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5+ years experience in precision machining
• Solid understanding of machining practices
• Must be able to work to tight tolerances, be proficient with precision measurement and understand machine tools
• Skilled in interpreting blueprints, drawings, standards and specifications
• Sound decision-making skills
• Basic Computer Skills required, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, able to follow verbal and written instructions
• Fluent in English (must be able to speak, read and write in English)
• Available for non-standard hours and possible shift work
• Able to stand for long periods of time, including bending and lifting
• Able to lift up to 50lbs (lifting of material and products)
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Mature, responsible, career-minded, with a high performing work attitude
• A team player, committed to working in a quality environment, who can also work independently when required
• Must be eligible to meet the requirements and security regulations of The Canadian Controlled Goods Program
