Job Description

Our Patient Care Services department consists of the Patient Care Centers, Home Collections and Customer Care Center teams. They play a critical role in the customer service delivery as they have direct contact with our customers on a daily basis. DynaLIFE operates 31 Patient Care Centers that house a diverse compliment of employees with vast skill sets including: phlebotomy, clinical trials and diagnostic testing. The Customer Care Centre is a central booking call center located in Edmonton, scheduling appointments for customers for the 31 Patient Care Centers. The Customer Care Centre sets the first impression of DynaLIFE with initial contact with customers.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

Creates and manages Patient Care Services schedules in collaboration with Leadership team.
Monitors Home Collections staffing compliment and adjusts staffing levels accordingly to ensure all patients are collected in timely manner.
Secures coverage for vacancies, updates shifts, sends out shift bids and adjusts schedule as required.
Monitors wait time, current staffing compliments and adjusts as required to meet patient wait time metric.
Calendar management.
Maintains and protects confidential employee information as it relates to scheduling.
Develops and maintains cooperative and positive working relationships with all key stakeholders providing the highest possible services with patients, facilities and coworkers.
Ensures that service contractual obligations are met as per established standards.

Required Experience
1-3 years experience in an administrative role
Previous scheduling experience is an asset
Experience with Staff Ready is an asset
Experience in Patient Care Services at DynaLIFE is an asset

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Certification in an professional administration assistant program or equivalent experience required.
Knowledge of CPSA Laboratory Accreditation guidelines, Health Information Act, CAP Accreditation guidelines, HSAA Collective Agreement and DynaLIFE policies in Quality, Safety and Human Resources is an asset.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Software is required.

Job Description
Our Anatomic Pathology department encompasses Histology, and Medical Transcription. Staff work closely with pathologists and a wide variety of departments and extended clients to provide Anatomic Pathology services.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

Receipt, preparation and handling of pathology specimens for testing, transportation, storage and disposal, reagent preparation and disposal
Includes routine slide staining, slide sorting and send out, as well as computer and clerical duties, Quality Control and operating instruments and performing routine maintenance
All duties performed according to guidelines outlined in procedure manuals
The candidate will also perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills
Strong interpersonal skills: communication with physicians, pathologists and other healthcare professionals are required
The successful candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team

Required Experience
Must have experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant II within the last 6 months in Anatomic Pathology
Beaker Requisition Entry experience is an asset

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma
Successful completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program or equivalent

Job Description

The Pathologist Assistant performs gross description and dissection of routine and complex surgical specimens and refer to Pathologists as required.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

  • Gross description and dissection of complex surgical specimens as well as routine specimens.
  • Participate in Pathologists continuing education Rounds.
  • Perform recut wet on request
  • Participate in providing educational inservices to AP Department Laboratory staff
  • Oversee the receipt and documentation of specimens and assist Laboratory staff with troubleshooting and problem solving collection, receipt and gross dissection problems.
  • Alert Pathologists to unique, interesting or concerning cases with potential to compromise accurate and timely diagnosis
  • Consult with Pathologists and Grossing Director as required
  • Selection of blocks for hormone receptors, tumor markers, clinical trials, etc.
  • In conjunction with the Anatomical pathology management team, participate in annual competency assessment of histotechnician

Required Skills

  • Collaborative approach to working with a team of professional and technical colleagues
  • Significant experience and knowledge of Human Anatomy, Advanced Medical terminology, Mechanisms of Disease, Clinical and General Pathology, Pathology, Histology, Embryology, Histotechnology, Immunohistochemistry and Laboratory Safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to use a microscope
  • Intermediate computer skills

Required Experience

  • 7 – 10 years grossing experience with a particular emphasis on malignancies
  • Working knowledge of CAP, CPSA, organizational policies, procedures and guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master of Health Science or related degree
  • Member of CAP (Canadian Association of Pathologists)
  • CCCPA certification
