The Online Software Engineer will help build networked game experiences for EA Sports titles. We are looking for engineers who enjoy prototyping, planning, implementing, and maintaining amazing new features and technology for an existing and beloved game. You will report to the Development Director and work with your Technical Lead to estimate, build and improve projects. You will be focused on delivering excellent game experiences through efficient and effective code.

Responsibilities:

Leverage EA’s Digital Platform technologies to implement server features, components, and services.
Create and maintain client code to support features and improve multiplayer experiences.
Optimize client and server online systems to improve latency, reliability, scalability, performance, and memory.
Design and iterate on architecture and infrastructure improvements for live systems and workflows.
Work closely with partner teams to stand up and maintain online infrastructure and services for the title.
Qualifications:

Experience in software development with a strong C++ focus.
Experience with networked applications or features (client/server and/or peer-to-peer).
Experience developing in and debugging multi-threaded/concurrent architectures.
Familiarity with database technologies (e.g. MySQL, SQL, Redis).
Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
Nice to have:

Experience working with Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo game consoles.
Experience with real-time networking–particularly peer-to-peer deterministic games.
Experience with network optimization and improving service reliability.
Experience with log analysis and tools such as Splunk.
Experience with Linux.
Experience with Visual Studio and deep knowledge of the debugging tools.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Verification Project Manager to join our growing Skate team in Vancouver.

The EA Create Technical Art team combines creativity and imagination with technical expertise. They are the bridge between artists, engineers and designers responsible for data design and content production workflows.

Responsibilities:

The Technical Artist (TA) acts as a bridge between the artists and engineers. They are considered part of the art team and work closely with artists, project managers, SEs and the Technical Art team. The main areas of responsibilities include art production workflows, tools, pipelines, asset optimization/integration and shader development. Technical Artists are expected to assume ownership over any technical issues that arise on their project and bring them to resolution. This often includes delegating to/mentoring more junior staff on the team. You can be from an Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science background; however you must demonstrate a comfort level in working with both art and science. Technical Artists report to Technical Art Directors on the EA Create Technical Art team.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5+ years of cinematic/games production experience. You have completed more than 3 AAA games/movies.
  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related field is desired.
  • Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, managers.
  • Proficient scripting/programming in python and C#. (C++ is a bonus, but is not required).
  • Expert knowledge of a 2D and 3D art packages: Maya/Photoshop needed. Houdini/Substance Designer a bonus.
  • A solutions-provider, particularly as it pertains to debugging technical issues.
  • Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques.
  • A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems; the ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations.

Job Description

The rendering Software Engineer is a critical part of the game creation process. They are involved in architectural design, implementation, and debugging of rendering technology on multiple platforms; working with Designers, Artists and other Engineers to solve complex computer graphics problems.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Research and implement cutting-edge rendering techniques.
•    Write technical design specifications.
•    Design, maintain, implement, test and debug code, pipelines and other rendering-related sub-components and packages
•    Develop core rendering tools, feature and engine components to required coding standards.
•    Profile and optimize rendering, lighting and shading components of a game engine.
•    Create leading edge reusable rendering technologies.

Required Technical Skills and Experience:

•    Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering  or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
•    3+ years development experience, including at least 6 months experience within the video gaming industry
•    Proficiency with C++
•    Experience in the design and implementation of cutting edge graphics techniques and detailed knowledge of graphics hardware.
•    Strong math skills including trigonometry, calculus and linear algebra.
•    Formal background in rendering with experience that may include shaders, animation, skinning, lighting, special effects and tool development.
•    Experience with Direct 3D, Open GL or equivalent.
•    Experience in object-oriented design and implementation.
•    Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices.
•    Understanding of memory management, multiple processor use, and runtime optimization.
•    Ability to test, debug, and extend other Software Engineer’s code   English is the required language of work
