Working together to provide essential services to communities across Western Canada, we are hiring a Semi Driver (2 positions) on a permanent part-time basis at our Distribution Centre in Edmonton, AB.

What you’ll do:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Transportation Operations, the Semi Driver is responsible for operating, inspecting, and preparing the semi for pickups and deliveries.

  • You will operate a semi-truck unit and/or body job unit which may include rural and city deliveries, city pickups, and spotting of trailers.
  • You will prepare trailers for deliveries including cleaning interiors, operating the fuel truck, and fuelling reefers.
  • You will perform minor mechanical work on trucks, semi-trailers, and reefers when required, and you will perform trailer inspections and report on condition of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Note – 2 positions available with one shift per week. Shifts are the following
    • Monday 6:00am – 2:30 pm and/or Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Supply Chain and:

  • You have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • You have a minimum of 6 months of Class 1A semi-truck driving experience and less than 3 moving vehicle offences in the last 2 years.
  • Must pass an in-cab evaluation by a qualified Transportation Supervisor.
  • You must provide a driver abstract every 6 months and attend Professional Driver Improvement courses every 3 years.
  • You’re honest and trustworthy, are results-oriented and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others.

What you’ll do:

You demonstrate extensive knowledge in safety management and support the continual improvement of Health and Safety performance in the Warehouse.  You act as a subject matter expert and support mechanism to the Warehouse, ensuring that health and safety program elements align with industry best practices, FCL Policy, and all applicable regulatory requirements

  • You are responsible to ensure thorough, accurate, and timely completion of incident investigations. You act to ensure that root cause analysis is completed thoroughly and that suitable corrective actions are selected and applied for all safety incident investigations and are responsible for monitoring incident report workflow through to the final approval process in a timely manner, and to validate the effectiveness of the applied corrective actions.
  • You lead the analysis (job demands analysis, hazard assessment) of work conditions, make recommendations for corrective action, support implementation of corrective actions as required, and validate their effectiveness.
  • You will identify Health and Safety training requirements, ensuring quality and timeliness of delivery and that training requirements are fulfilled in accordance with internal and external standards. You will also support audits of FCL’s Safety Management System and FCL’s Food Safety Standards and will participate in other FCL warehouses’ annual audits.
  • You will demonstrate a proactive steadfast commitment to safety through actions, discussions, decisions, risk management and other opportunities on a daily basis and will promote the same expectation for safety throughout the warehouse.

Who you are:

  • You have a Diploma in Business or Logistics
  • You have a minimum of 6-9 years of progressively responsible relevant experience in safety management (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
  • A CRSP or CHSC designation would be considered an asset.
