As an Agronomic Excellence Associate, you will join our team where you will be involved in:

• Field trials for local Agronomic Excellence programs evaluating canola hybrids and seed
technology with goal of developing regional hybrid specific agronomic practices.
• You will be responsible for field activities relating to hybrid evaluation on a commerc ial scale to
small plot trials from seeding to harvest including seed set up, land preparation, seeding, pest
control, plot maintenance, harvesting and supervision of casual employees as required.
• You will also be involved in crop health diagnosis through daily monitoring of field and research
plots, data collection and analysis.

college along with experience in the Agriculture Industry

Under the direction of the Vice-President, Academic, the Director, Centre for Indigenous Life-Long Learning works to ensure effective and efficient operation of the academic activities of the continuing education unit.  The Director oversees and facilitates effective administration and management of all educational programs offered through the continuing education unit, including oversight of the operation of all educational offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all staff, instructors, and Sessionals within the program.
  • Planning and execution of budgetary procedures.
  • Plans, develops, and implements seminars, conferences, workshops designed to address selected contemporary issues.
  • Solicits input from community organizations to develop programs to meet their needs.
  • Recruits, interviews, and selects consultants, lecturers, and workshop leaders.
  • Develops contracts for teachers, lecturers, and workshops leaders selected to facilitate the various programs.
  • Prepares correspondence pertaining to the Continuing Education programs such as letters of invitation and letters of appreciation.
  • Supervises the teaching of non-credit academic courses that provide instruction for professional training, skill development, and leisure time activities.

To qualify, candidates will need to possess a Master’s or terminal degree.  Candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of program development and training models and implementation and management of distance education programs.  The successful candidate will also have experience organizing and executing comprehensive continuing education training programs.  Eight (8) years of work experience in a higher education environment including some in Continuing Education is also a requirement.

the Fishing Lake Fist Nation (FLFN) Ventures General Manager and the FLFN Ventures Board of Directors.
The GM is responsible to provide operational leadership to the Fishing Lake Store. This position is
responsible for ensuring the safe, profitable operation of the business, safeguarding of assets and
protecting the investment of the shareholders. The General Manager must also ensure high levels of
customer service, leading the team to ensure all staff are dedicated to providing high levels of customer
service. The General Manager is accountable for the financial and operational performance and
reporting of the business. The General Manager must also provide reports to the FLFN Ventures Board
of Directors, as well as Chief and Council as required.

Key Responsibilities

 Supervising staff, hiring and firing, disciplining, providing orientation and training;
 Scheduling staff and assigning of duties, following up on work assignments and work results;
 Coaching and counseling employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job performance,
completing and communicating regular performance evaluations;
 Oversee timecards and ensure controls are in place for payroll of all employees
 Identifying current and future customer requirements;
 Establishing a rapport with potential and existing guests and vendors;
 Representing the Store to community, organizations/agencies, performing a goodwill
ambassador role;
 Developing and implementing marketing plans, strategies, goals and objectives;
 Tracking sales and price changes to control business accountability;
 Supervising the ordering of inventory, monitoring stock levels, rotating stock, and updating
prices to maintain product margins;
 Ensure adequate controls for the making up of floats for the store staff;
 Collecting accounts receivable and minimizing charge accounts;
 Supervising periodic and year-end inventory counts;
 Managing computer hardware and software point-of-sale and other systems to ensure they
remain operational and cost effective;
 Ensuring physical security and integrity of the business, safe operations of the overall site,
developing & implementing workplace safety best practices, including cleanliness and neatness;
 Responsible to ensure permits and insurance is in place for all areas of store operations;
 Securing inventory, minimizing cash resources on hand, maintained in locked safe;
 Responsible to review financial performance, establish budgets, monitor results, investigate
variances and initiate corrective measures;
 Responsible to develop, implement and update policies and procedures; and
 Performing other duties that may be periodically assigned.

Duties and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will instruct, from an Indigenous perspective, a variety of introductory and senior undergraduate courses in business and public administration. She/he will engage in active community-based research and community service within Indigenous communities.

Ability to teach and develop new curriculum and conduct research on areas of business and public administration related to human resources, accounting, entrepreneurship and community development is an asset. Experience in Indigenous business, economics, law or other relevant areas of Indigenous studies, is also considered an asset.

The successful candidate will ideally have a PhD in Business or Public Administration related discipline, but consideration will be given to those with a Master’s degree in Business or Public Administration, and equivalent experience. Excellence in research, publication and grant writing is required along with an established teaching record and experience. The salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Experience working, teaching, or living in a First Nations environment and ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
