As Cybersecurity Risk Advisor at Hydro One, you will:

  • Join a diverse team of experienced Cybersecurity practitioners, and act as a subject matter expert for Information Security with the Lines of Business (LOB)
  • Focus on security operations and information security governance as it relates to Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT) systems
  • Translate technical cyber & information security requirements into business actions. Preserve and apply the security governance framework (based on NIST) for the LOBs.
  • Work with different, potentially conflicting requirements (legal, regulatory, industry standards, security strategy) to distil realistic security requirements supporting the business strategy
  • Conduct research to maintain and expand knowledge on the latest cyber security technologies and standards, as well as the threat and vulnerability landscape for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in general, and the Electrical sector in Ontario

You are an experienced Cyber Risk management professional with extensive knowledge and experience in architecture of the following domains and their application to IT (and preferably OT) environments:

  • Identity and Access Management
  • Threat, Risk and Compliance
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Security Operations
  • Infrastructure Security
  • Security Governance and Policies
  • Security Architecture

Specific Accountabilities may include:

  • Represent the Cyber Security Governance, Risk and Architecture team as an advisor and expert Cyber Security SME to support overall security program
  • Seek industry trends and organization knowledge to understand and implement effective risk management practices.
  • Provide recommendations for security architecture for all technology projects, new platforms – on premise or cloud based and ensure alignment of technology solutions to established frameworks and security standards.
  • Provide consultation to operational teams as a risk-focused senior cyber security advisor on security-related initiatives, solution selection, security architecture and security assessments
  • Provide risk management insights through an ongoing process of gathering, analyzing and prioritizing actionable risk messages; develop content to support communication of the messages and enable technology teams to consume and apply the messages to their respective areas.
  • Establish practices and communications to foster a culture of issue self-identification and support partners in the Risk Issue management processes to carry out their roles effectively and consistently.
  • Continuously improve quality of the issue management process and data.
  • Manage various stakeholders across levels (including executives) and engage in resolution of risk issues.
  • Build and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders, team members, and other business, functional and support groups. Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure alignment of Cyber Security initiatives.
  • Support responses to various regulatory requests and audits

Requisite Experience and Skills:

  • Extensive experience of strategic development of standards, Cyber Security Risk Identification and Mitigation techniques
  • Demonstrable experience in an advisor/consultant capacity representing Information Security
  • 10+ years of information security experience in risk management and information security
  • Strong knowledge of NIST SP800-53 and NIST Cyber Security Framework
  • Sound understanding of the Ontario Cyber Security Framework
  • Familiarity with the ISO 27005, NIST 800-30/39 or ISF IRAM2
  • Familiarity with scenario-based exercises or scenario analysis using common threat modelling techniques
  • Knowledge and experience on current trends in the cyber security industry
  • Knowledge of unique threats to the energy sector and its role within Canadian critical infrastructure
  • 3+ years’ participation in and exposure to various compliance, regulatory and common industry security policies and frameworks (NERC CIP, NIST, SOX, PIPEDA etc.)
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management
  • Excellent organization/project planning, time and organizational change skills across multiple functional groups and departments
  • Knowledge of metrics programs and security dashboard creation
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • One or more of CISSP, CRISC, CISM or other relevant certifications preferred

General Accountabilities:

Perform engineering work of average complexity such as preparation of estimate specifications, providing technical advice and assistance during expansion of the system plan, preparation of detailed designs, providing technical parts of specifications and participate in the analysis of tenders in relation to transmission and distribution stations and associated equipment: Receive general requirements from Supervisor or others, together with basic design and study assumptions. Prepare sound and economic designs, including detailed calculations. Prepare complete sketches of work designed. Discuss design and study features with Supervisor and submit for check upon completion.
Collaborate with others in the division in the preparation of recommendations for the effective operation and maintenance of new and revised facilities, with information on the potentialities and limitations inherent in the design and study.
Participate as required, in studies of designs, specifications and construction methods to ensure compatibility for optimum economy: Discuss requirements with Supervisor. Evaluate present methods and recommend improvements. Visit construction sites to gain first-hand knowledge. Work with person concerned in solution of problem area. Keep Supervisor informed of progress.
Assist senior development design and study engineer as assigned, in design and study work of major complexity: Receive basic design and study assumptions along with necessary instructions. Proceed with the design and study as outlined. Obtain direction on unfamiliar areas from party concerned. Submit completed work for review.
Prepare and arrange for the processing of computer programs to perform design calculations: Receive assignments from Supervisor along with reference points to the data required. Assemble information, study all available literature and consult with other utilities and manufacturers as arranged by Supervisor, to obtain data on similar programs, if any. Arrange engineering formula or calculations into a coding language, suitable for transfer to data processing centres, internal or external through formal training in coding language and association with processing personnel. Modify existing programs where feasible to meet requirements. Cooperate with data processing personnel in debugging program. Edit the input and output for routine operation of program.
Perform other duties as required.

Specific Accountabilities:

Perform as a junior engineering design and study authority in the field of designs for transmission stations and/or related facilities in any assigned project.
Provide recommendations and decisions as well as technical advice, leadership and guidance usually regarding conventional complex designs and formulation of minor technical decisions in a specialized field.
Carry out studies to develop standard design criteria required.
Provide a consulting service to internal and external personnel on assigned project design and study areas. Review and discuss design and study problems referred.
Provide general recommendations to internal groups, and technical assistance to external groups through the application of specialized engineering design and study skills and knowledge under mentorship from senior staff.
Co-ordinate the testing and supplying of special components by manufacturers and suppliers, and provide advice and guidance to their engineering personnel on design and study aspects.
Carry out field investigations to solve installation problems, to participate in solving maintenance and operating problems and to correct defects and recommend modifications upon request.
Provide technical training to assist in the development of other design and study engineering personnel.
Develop and present material for technical training courses, such as design and study methodology. Provide advice and technical guidance on project design and development problems.

This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of a four year university education in engineering design principles or by having the equivalent level of education.
Requires an engineering knowledge of the electrical engineering in transmission and distribution substation electrical arrangement and basic layout design and study.
Requires an engineering knowledge of technical writing for the preparation of technical reports and specifications. Requires General knowledge of transmission and distribution substation equipment, applicable codes and standards.
Requires experience in an engineering design capacity to become familiar with practices, procedures, and standards involved in component and system design.
Requires experience in general engineering design to acquire a detailed knowledge of equipment and its application, and the design of components involved.
Requires on-the-job experience in transmission and distribution substation electrical arrangement and basic layout design and study areas with the practical approaches, methods, and techniques pertinent to transmission and distribution substation electrical arrangement and basic layout design and study for stations projects, and the requirements for drawing production, standards, and practices.
Requires experience related to fieldwork to fully appreciate the construction and installation practicalities versus design.
Requires experience in the division to become familiar with the organization and the interrelation of its various functions with those of other departments and divisions involved in construction.
A period of up to six years is considered necessary to gain this experience.

Hydro One Networks Inc. is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our company reporting to an Assistant General Counsel within the Law Department.  This position is a full-time position located at Hydro One’s head office in Toronto with occasional travel outside head office to meet with various lines of business. Circumstances may require working from home at times.

Roles and Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:

  • support and report directly to the Assistant General Counsel
  • provide support to the EVP and Chief Legal Officer as required
  • provide legal, business, and strategic advice on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters to the various lines of business (LOBs) throughout the corporation and its affiliates and to senior executives
  • draft and negotiate sophisticated and complex legal and business documents for use within the company and outside (e.g. contracts, filings with governmental and regulatory authorities)
  • negotiate, advise on, draft and/or review various types of commercial contracts including, but not limited to, construction, joint use, telecommunications services agreements, leases, M&A transactions, sponsorship agreements and agreements for new products and services
  • draft, negotiate and advise on outsourcing, supply chain, technology supply and licensing agreements and cloud  services agreements, as well as advise on supply chain/procurement processes and issues including RFT’s, RFPs, RFIs and RFQs and contract disputes related to such processes
  • review and advise on legislation and regulations, as well as regulatory instruments issued by the Ontario Energy Board
  • incorporate entities as needed for transactions
  • anticipate and manage the (legal) risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy and operations
  • participate in the functions and strategic plans of LOBs and provide training to the LOBs to assist them in accomplishing corporate goals
  • manage work performed by external counsel and act as the interface between external counsel and Hydro One LOBs
  • assist other members of Law Department
  • play a key role in proactively managing risk through training and coaching, as well as through the creation and implementation of efficient contract governance processes
  • anticipate stakeholders’ needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them
  • mentor legal counsel and articling students
  • perform other duties appropriate for the scope of this position

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum 10 years of post-call experience as a corporate/commercial lawyer in a law firm or in house legal department
  • Technology law and intellectual property law experience is important for this role
  • In-house legal experience would be an asset
  • Experience working in a regulated industry would be an asset
  • Good knowledge about the energy sector would be an asset
  • Should be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with broad, generalist responsibilities, but with specialist legal subject skills in commercial law and regulatory matters pertaining to the electricity distribution and transmission sector

WORK ILLUSTRATION:

The Power System Controller Apprentice is responsible for operating the electrical distribution system to ensure a safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery of electrical power on a 24-hour basis. In performing this function, Power System Controller Apprentice monitors system conditions; develops, directs and dispatches system switching, work protection and trouble response for planned and emergency events under the direction of a Power System Controller. The position runs on a rotating 24/7, 365 days/year shift schedule.

The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.


KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Creates, updates, maintains and verifies logs, reports and databases to record system attributes during planned and emergency conditions
  • Leads, distributes, follows up and checks work, answers inquiries and gives guidance as required
  • Liaises, consults and co-ordinates with contractors, internal and external customers
  • Operates the system to ensure the safe, reliable and cost effective distribution of electrical energy
  • Monitors system loading and initiates appropriate action to achieve desired system performance
  • Ensures proper isolation and work protection is provided for planned and emergency work

REQUIREMENTS:

The Opportunity:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and managing the overall budget and schedule for high rise and condo development in conjunction with all required standards, codes and specifications.
What you’ll be responsible for day to day:
Construction

Manages the construction schedule and budget for each project;

Ensures all activities are completed on schedule including obtaining architectural plans (grading plans), services are supplied (hydro, gas, water, phone), colour sheets, on-site equipment and supplies ordered and building permits obtained;
Reviews plan designs and specifications as required;
Conducts periodic on-site inspections to ensure construction activities are meeting standards and schedule, and provides recommendations for improvements when required;
Approves and processes all invoices for customer extras and investigates discrepancies;
Assists in the preparation and analysis of construction tenders by providing feedback on performance, architectural specifications, etc;
Attends head office and on-site meetings as required and keeps staff informed of changes;
Manages the condo common element process to ensure deficiencies are corrected within schedule;
Tracks and coordinates all City and Condo board inspections are completed and passed;
Orders and approves IT resources and software for site offices and model homes.

Continuously pursues cost effective alternatives to improve financial performance in all areas.

Supervises, trains and monitors performance of direct reports;Builds, manages, and maintains a high performance team through effective talent recruitment, coaching, and development;
Sets high standards, establishes accountabilities and measures performance consistent with Minto’s Values;
Assists site superintendent to ensure all Minto staff and trades partners abide by Ministry of Ontario Labour regulations and Minto’s Health & Safety Policies.

Applies knowledge and problem solving skills to issues related to team and department, could be business issues but not broad across the organization;
Examples include errors on plans that do not meet specifications will have to meet with all parties to find a cost effective solution, meet with trades in order to supply more trades or meet deadlines, staff conflict resolution and with trades.

Makes business decisions/exercises judgment within generally defined policies and in alignment with tactical business objectives. Alters approach or recommends broader procedural changes to improve effectiveness of the group;
Typical decisions that the position is called upon to make, without prior authorization, in the normal course of the work: Additional costs to the budget (under specified amount), changes to schedule, move around staff from site to site;
Typical decisions requiring the approval of the supervisor/manager: Hiring additional people, additional budget items with large financial costs, terminations, contract awards for the trades;
Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

What you’ll bring:

Education: Post Secondary Education either University Degree (i.e. Engineering degree) or College Diploma (Construction Management Program).
Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the construction industry.
