Job Description

Job Title: Senior Avionics Technician

Position Type: Permanent, Full Time

Location: 13-475 Airport Road, Sault Ste. Marie Airport

Job Purpose:

Our continuous growth creates a demand for heavy maintenance lines. We service the Dash 8 Q400, Dash 8 100/300 aircrafts. Along with, the CRJ100/200/700/900 aircrafts.

We expect applicants to be ready to work in a fast-paced work environment. Our role requires individuals to have excellent communication skills with a team player attitude!

As an Avionics Technician under the supervision of the Production Manager, you will plan and execute maintenance tasks and provide mentorship to apprentices.

Responsibilities and Competencies:

  • Carry out various maintenance tasks in accordance with the manufacturer’s manuals and data
  • Troubleshooting
  • Request parts and materials using the manufacturer’s manuals and data
  • Complete maintenance releases for work performed and ensure clear and accurate documentation
  • Mentor apprentices and trainees in best practices
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Participate in company SMS and reporting procedures on all hazards or incidents.
  • Maintain clean work area and exercise FOD vigilance

Qualifications:

  • A Transport Canada AME ‘E’ license is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to individuals holding an endorsement course for the aircraft listed.
  • Good understanding of the English Language with the ability to read, understand and follow instructions contained within Aircraft Manuals and Publications as it relates to Aircraft Maintenance.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must have excellent mechanical aptitude and mechanical experience.
  • Must have a clean criminal background and provide a valid police criminal record check.
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada.

Job Description

Accountable to the Managing Directors- Don McNabb and Julian Chin; the Corporate Finance Lead will be the point of contact for both the Finance and HR Departments.

This position requires a high attention to detail, and aptitude to work on varying tasks in a fast-paced working environment.  Experience in working with executive management and handling confidential information is imperative.

The Human Resources role and responsibilities is a temporary position to cover a maternity leave; and will revert back to the original Corporate Finance Lead job description upon return of the HR Business Lead.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional demeanor while working closely with the managing directors and other executive staff members.
  • Full Accounts Receivable cycle: creating monitoring and processing client invoices.
  • Work with CRA and Minister of Finance on submission and remittance of payments for HST, EHT and other payment requests in a timely manner.
  • Act as a liaison with customers and CBSA officers, when required, for the coordination and management of incoming/departing aircraft and ensure applicable paperwork is gathered.
  • Point of contact for imperative banking functions such as account and credit card reconcilidations, petty cash monitoring, EFT and WT template creations etc.
  • Work with FBO department to create invoices, reconcile statements, forward fuel tickets, maintain spreadsheet logs, and monthly reporting.
  • Registration, accommodation, and promotional ordering for company conferences.
  • Prepare financial reports, profit/loss statements, balance sheets and year-end financial statements for managing directors.
  • Responsible for maintaining company insurance on vehicles, property, liability and Cessna aircraft.
  • Assist with payroll and accounts payable functions when required.
  • Complete award applications, sponsorship requests, credit applications and CRA requests.
  • Prepare, write and submit applications for government funding, training grants and financial loans.
  • Work in partnership with accountant to complete year-end audit.
  • Annual T4/T4A submissions

Human Resources

  • Facilitate full recruitment cycle including conducting interviews, obtaining hiring approval and support orientation of new staff
  • Sit on in employee performance and disciplinary meetings, advising executive staff on previous disciplinary action, drafting correspondence and taking notes
  • Advise executive team on federal regulations including changes to Canada Labour Code
  • Sit in and document sensitive employee meetings, such as exit interviews and terminations
  • Work with Managing Directors on updating company Pay Scale, and pay scale progression data
  • Draft correspondence letters to employees (Promotion letters, COLA letters, Transport Canada License letters, etc)
  • Submit WSIB claims and collaborate with return-to-work specialists for proper scheduling and accommodations for injured employees (WSIB, Labour Program); including documentation of Functional Abilities Forms.

Operations Tasks

  • Provide guidance to Operations Support Clerk to coordinate company conventions and conferences nationally and internationally; this may include booking of flights, booking of hotels, booking and coordination of other incidentals at venue.
  • Work in collaboration with FBO Manager to send reports, fuel volumes and daily fuel tickets to Avjet.
  • In collaboration with external vendors, prepare advertising for approval as required (business cards, banner-ups, etc).
  • Assist with social committee planning for employee engagement activities.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements :

  • 1-2 years experience working in an office environment
  • University degree or diploma in business administration, finance, accounting or office administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience
