Job Description

Overview

This position is responsible for the overall coordination of hollowcore, full  precast and pipe projects. This  includes document and drawing review and preparation, resolving design and production  problems, ensuring drawings and designs are completed according to building codes and regulations production and scheduling control and inspecting products to ensure they are produced to specifications.

This is a temporary position to support our operation with the possibility of a future long-term role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform take-offs from tender drawings
  • Aid Estimators in ensuring labour and raw material costs are correctly included in quotes
  • Aid in obtaining pricing from suppliers, engineering and freight companies
  • Assist in preparing weekly/monthly financial reports.
  • Look for ways to save money by reducing materials, labour, etc throughout project execution
  • Obtain PO/contract, purchase details and schedule from contractor
  • Produce or arrange for shop drawings to be completed, submitted and approved
  • Coordinate delivery of products to jobsite
  • Coordination of subcontractors; including their safety, schedule, production, and proficiency for projects
  • Plan production to meet deadlines, balance overtime, workload etc
  • Provide technical support to our customers and to consultants
  • Ensure completed products meet customer specifications and deadlines
  • Build relationships with new and existing contractors

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Coordination of all assigned projects
  • Meeting customer delivery deadlines

Reporting:

  • Reports directly to the Pipe & Precast Projects Manager
  • Works closely with the Project Manager, plant and yard staff, local sales team, estimators and sales staff from other Lafarge pipe and precast plants

Qualifications

  • CET or A Sc T designation, Diploma in Contractor/ Construction Management or 3 years related experience
  • PMP designation or 3 years related experience
  • Engineering degree and registration as a P Eng is an asset
  • 2 years of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD experience

Job Description

Overview

The role has direct responsibility for Lafarge’s commercial and operational success of Tri City, Guelph and neighboring rural markets. Incumbent holds full responsibility for the plant sites including safety, environment, operations, strategic input, maintenance, inventory management, performance, quality, financial performance, employee relations, plant’s image and community relations. The role is an operations professional who understands the value of planning and processes and takes a disciplined approach to execution, while working closely and effectively with safety, environment, sales, credit, customer service, performance, finance and HR.

Responsibilities

Health and Safety:

Leads the culture of Health and Wellbeing and takes full responsibility in the implementation and compliance of Lafarge Health and Safety Program to ensure personnel are working in accordance with policies and procedures.
Ensures that employees, equipment and processes meet or exceed the, governmental regulatory and Lafarge guidelines, standards and advisories.
Pursues an objective of “zero” injuries or incidents and, actively engages with the employees to reinforce safe behaviors.
Operations Analysis and Action Tracking:

Effectively utilizes KPIs, Performance Efficiency Reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.
Plant Image:

Maintains the plant in accordance with stated guidelines for plant image.
Plant image includes housekeeping, parts storage, vehicles and equipment condition (cleanliness and appearance), entrance & property, and buildings.
HR/Coaching & Mentoring:

Lead the team to achieve success.
Responsible for effective recruitment, merit/recognition, development, and disciplinary actions for the site.
Participates in union negotiations and fosters effective employee relations.
Performance Management:

Promotes a culture of performance.
Effectively utilizes KPIs, Performance Efficiency Reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.
Capital:

Works with General Manager and Manufacturing team to identify necessary sustaining and development capital according to Lafarge best practices. Assists in preparing CERs (Capital Expenditure Requests) and assists in installation/construction of projects as required.

Labour contracts: 4 Sites, Cambridge, Guelph, Listowel and Arthur
Number of Operations: 4
Staff: 35 total.
Sales Revenue: 18 Million +/-
Qualifications

Education & Work Experience:

Post-Secondary Degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or business
Mechanical aptitude with a minimum 5 years’ experience in plant maintenance and operations
Strong leadership skills are essential, coupled with a minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experience and successful track record working in a fast-paced and critically demanding environment
A successful track record and true understanding of Customer Service/Management with timely and accurate response is critical to the success of this position.
Knowledge & Skills:
