Responsibilities

The Centre of Applied Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at Lethbridge College is looking for three Greenhouse Labourers (General Support Worker II) as part of the RDAR-funded project: “Pre-commercial trials and commercial validation of strawberry and tomato production”. The project aims to develop production technology for greenhouse strawberries and tomatoes at the Brooks Research and Production Greenhouse operated by Lethbridge College in Brooks, AB. The project is executed in collaboration Sunterra Farms Greenhouses Ltd. This full-time position is a temporary appointment, coinciding with the grant-funded project which ends December 31, 2022. The work week will consist of approximately 35 hours, and the incumbent may be required to work some weekends and/or holidays.

Job Duties

Working under the direction of the Greenhouse Manager and in collaboration with other members of the greenhouse team, the successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:
Participate in the growing of plant material.
Participate in the harvesting of fruits.
Assist with pest management activities in the greenhouse.
Identify and report greenhouse structural or equipment issues.

Required Qualifications

Education in a related field and Pesticide Applicator’s training are definite assets.
Previous experience in greenhouse growing or horticulture is an asset.
Must be a self-motivated team player and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Due to the physically demanding nature of this position, as well as the environmental working conditions, applicants must be physically fit and able to work in the greenhouse for extended periods. Incumbents must provide and wear CSA approved footwear and successfully complete WHMIS certification training.

Job Description

The Lethbridge College Information Technology Services department is seeking a full-time Senior Systems Analyst to join our team here in Lethbridge, Alberta.

As part of our Senior Analyst team this role is primarily responsible for the administration, maintenance, installation, security, integrity and resiliency of:

  • Lethbridge College administrative systems including the ERP
  • Lethbridge College Identity Management
  • Connections and integrations between administrative systems

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has direct or related experience in the administration of an ERP system with a focus on ensuring critical systems are operational as much as feasible, being able to work closely with our stakeholders and vendors in troubleshooting our systems, upgrading, and bringing new applications online that meet our business needs. This role needs to be able to co-ordinate many resources into actionable tasks and projects with our ITS Team while adhering to our defined processes and procedures.
Provide product support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all College Enterprise Applications including ERP (Ellucian Colleague), Portal, Identity Management, Middleware and Administrative Systems
·         Security and access support for all identified systems
·         Monitor system performance to identify problems and areas requiring fine tuning (e.g. improve response time)
·         Provide Technical advice and assistance to client departments to troubleshoot system problems (e.g. software changes that impact services)
·         Ensure compliance with GOA reporting and system use
·         Implement vendor fixes to resolve existing system problems
·         Coordination of problem resolution with other areas within the College.
·         Implementation and support interfaces to and from administrative systems
·         Build and maintain test and Development environments to ensure products are compatible with system software and to ensure tolerance to new versions of related products
·         Ensures backup data verification and recovery procedures are in place for supported software, which in turn supports both the Clients Application backup and recovery and overall, ITS Disaster Recovery procedures
Job Duties
Monitor impact of installation on various client applications and follows up to resolve problems
·         Work directly with Database administrators to facilitate smooth operation of administrative systems
·         Provide next level of support for System Analysts
·         Install, setup and configure institutions SQL environments
·         Planning and performing maintenance and upgrades to Enterprise Application Systems following identified departmental Change and Communication procedures
·         Participates on internal project teams to provide input and expertise on application, database support and related products
·         Assesses the impact of hardware and software related product requirements within assigned projects or solution discoveries
·         Conducts product evaluations for new/changing user requirements or for products that will enhance the services (i.e. performance, cost, functionality) to the client
·         Research product roadmaps, functionality and provides input on direction
·         Makes recommendation to client departments based on product roadmaps and changes to environments
·         Maintain strong relationships with our key business partners and their technical staff
·         Works with product vendors and support on escalated problem resolutions
·         Ensure departmental Patch process is maintained and followed for quarterly ERP patching with stakeholder validation and proper communication
·         Continued technical education through course work or seminars and/or industry certifications
Required Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
·         Minimum 3 years in in a similar role administering and maintaining organizational ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system (Such as Ellucian Colleague or Ellucian Banner)
·         Ability to translate technical requirements with various business units (HR, Finance etc.)
·         Excellent communication skills
·         Experience planning and implementing change and upgrades through to completion including following strong change management practices
·         Good understanding of MS SQL Fundamentals
·         Strong analytical skills to work through all the various system layers to identify problems
·         Strong organization skills required to manage multiple systems and environments
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the ERP environment within a Canadian post-secondary would be an asset
·         Experience working with Unidata
·         Experience working with Ellucian Ethos would be an asset
·         Experience with installation and support of various operating systems
