Requirements:

The Restaurant Leader is responsible for running a profitable restaurant and for making sure the restaurant meets McDonald’s critical customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness. These standards are high, so this is a big job! The Restaurant Leader works with his/her Supervisor to set the restaurant’s goals and creates a plan to achieve the goals.

To meet restaurant goals, the Restaurant Leader doesn’t work alone. He or she leads a team of Department Leaders that has specific responsibilities in the restaurant. This means helping the Department Leaders to set their own goals, following up on their progress, and providing coaching and direction to improve their Departments. By improving the Departments, the restaurant improves!

The Restaurant Leader may also be responsible for hiring and developing Department and Shift Leaders to make sure that the restaurant has the right team to lead into the future.

Ideal candidates should have previous Restaurant Leader experience running high volume locations. A background in quick service restaurants is strongly desired, or experience in hospitality or retail. You must be 18 years or older to be a manager in our restaurants.

  • Understanding of NIST framework

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager, Governance, Operations, DE&I, plays a critical and central role in strengthening the organization by overseeing the day to day governance operations of RMHC Canada, ensuring effective, efficient, and sustainable operational compliance and risk management; while also serving as an internal subject matter expert and advisor to internal stakeholders on matters of diversity, inclusion, belonging and equity (DIBE).

This role involves extensive collaboration and dialogue with key stakeholders, including the RMHC Canada Board of Directors, RMHC Global, the RMHC Canada staff team, McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Ltd; and 12 RMHC Regional Chapters (staff and leadership).

Essential to the incumbent’s success in this position, will be the ability to develop a strong understanding of the role Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada plays as both the national foundation of support, and national center of excellence for RMHC across Canada, operating to the highest standards of governance, transparency and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

RMHC Canada Governance

  • Responsible for day to day Governance operations of Board of Directors and Board Committees, reporting to the Executive Director.
  • Working with the Operations & Administration Specialist, oversees the coordination of the board calendar, as well as all related materials, including agendas and meeting support materials for the Board of Directors, Governance & Nominating Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and Human Resources Committee.
  • Ensures appropriate review, submission and archiving of key governance and regulatory documents (by-laws, meeting minutes, and annual regulatory filings).
  • Working with the Operations and Administration Specialist, coordinates new Director Orientation scheduling, and updates onboarding processes and materials, through ongoing management and oversight of the electronic board portal.
  • Interacts extensively with RMHC Canada senior leadership, Directors, and Board Committee Volunteers on a range of governance issues and special projects, with an eye to effective, timely and relevant communications.

Operations: Risk Management & Compliance

  • Develops sustainable policies, procedures, and maintains updated risk registry for RMHC Canada, to comply with regulatory requirements aligned to best in class business practices,  charitable sector standards, and RMHC Global requirements, building resilience in people and systems, and to enable achievement of annual and long-term business goals.
  • Ensure the full documentation and timely updates of policies, standards, guidelines, risk management action plans, and insurance coverage; including annual Imagine Canada Standards Compliance reporting.
  • Ensure RMHC Canada’s continued compliance with RMHC Global license requirements, standards, guidelines and best practices, and annual compliance reporting.
  • Maintain and build relevant, current, and credible team knowledge related to charitable governance, as well as RMHC Canada risk and compliance procedures, and practices.
  • Continuous Improvement – in collaboration with the CEO, Executive Director, Board of Directors and RMHC Canada Leadership team – ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the business environment and charitable sector requirements, to identify risks and opportunities. Engage appropriate stakeholders and resources to initiate improvement.
  • Interacts extensively with RMHC Canada senior leadership, Directors, and key stakeholders on a variety of special projects, including regular review of key partnership and stakeholder agreements with RMHC Regional Chapters and McDonald’s Canada.
