Job Description

The Associate Client Manager, who reports to the Client Manager, Defined Contribution Pension Administration, plays a critical role in managing client relationships and in managing medium to large sized client projects. This person will work within a team of 5 – 10 members that are composed of Analysts up to Directors, which support 3 – 5 clients. The successful candidate will focus on the day-to-day administration of all types of Employer CAP plans (including but not limited to GRSP, TFSA, Non-Registered Plans, RIF/LIFs, Share Purchase Plans, SERPs, and Notional Plans along with DC Pension Plans) which includes contributions, reconciliations, trading, and reporting.  We are seeking a creative, innovative and passionate leader!

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Analysts and Senior Analysts, overseeing and peer reviewing their work, participates in the performance management process, and provides feedback and guidance on an on-going basis
  • Ensures that quality control and service standards are attained with every transaction and ensures adherence to internal and external audit controls
  • Maintains excellent relationships with clients, through regular telephone contact and office visits. Understands the client’s perspective and priorities, and partners with the client to resolve administrative issues.
  • Acts as a technical resource for the Analysts and Senior Analysts; reviews specifications  and completes quality assurance testing as required
  • Manages/coordinates team members to ensure delivery of client projects. This may involve managing on-going projects including change requests, coordination of testing and liaising with various stakeholders, as appropriate
  • Monitors generally accepted reconciliation process for the analysts and senior analysts; ensures applicable policies are adhered to
  • May perform reconciliations on a monthly basis; identifies and resolves current and historical reconciliation issues for client plans
  • Identifies inefficiencies with team administration processes and recommends/implements improvements
  • Investigates client issues and proposes timely and cost-effective solutions
  • Leads and attends internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends
  • Keeps apprised of applicable new and existing pension, tax and securities legislation
  • Reviews existing internal tax filing procedures for client plans and ensures accuracy of such
  • Participates in client implementations; tests new functionalities for existing applications and new applications; contributes to the documentation process
  • Participates on special projects as required including internal and external audits or administrative tasks
Succeeding as an Associate Consultant will require the following core qualifications and skills
  • University or college degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of Pension Administration experience, and is considered a DC Subject Matter Expert
  • Related courses in pension administration (ACAP) or group benefits (CEBS),  are considered an asset
  • CSC or IFIC designation, an asset
  • Previous people management experience an asset
  • Desire to be a mentor/coach and demonstrates patience and resourcefulness
  • Strong knowledge of all provincial pension and tax legislation
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Exceptional customer focus with strong business and professional acumen
  • Excellent communication, project management, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Highly organized, ability to take initiative, be flexible and is an independent learner
  • Strong computer skills,  particularly MS Word and Excel
  • Experience with pension administration software an asset

Job Description

Dual Role to be responsible for revenue growth targets for Financial Wellbeing business line and for DC Admin growth. This is a business development and client relationship building role.

Responsibilities

  • Sell Financial Wellbeing Product to clients and net new logos
  • Maintain service and revenue accountability for the overall client book while establishing strategies for services that meet both current and future client needs
  • Up-selling and cross-selling activities within Morneau Shepell’s broader book of business
  • Support sales effort for DC Admin services, including record keeping, Resiliency, Cumulus,
  • Decumulation and eventually OCIO support (build client relationships, lead finalist presentations, support proposals)
  • Lead identified client opportunities (e.g. RFI, RFPs) with support of broader team of subject matter experts and regional team leads
  • Engage the client teams in developing and executing on the annual client plan
  • Support key strategic growth initiatives and build required business cases (for example, implement ETF products within DC Services line, work with third parties as appropriate)
  • Coordination and participation in sales/marketing events, as required
  • Work closely with the DC Business team, sales and proposal team and DC IT team
  • Work closely with Financial Wellbeing team
  • May work closely with Pension Legal team to obtain required approvals and work with IT and business teams to operationalize

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of directly related work experience in Investment and CAP
  • CFA would be an asset
  • Proficient understanding of CAP and Investment Securities Law in Canada
  • Excellent at building and maintaining client relationships at all levels including C-suite (influencers
  • and decision makers)
  • Sales experience is a must
