Job Description
The Cost Accounting summer student is responsible for providing exceptional full time support to the Cost Accounting team for the summer. As a member of the team, you will assist with the day-to-day activities and also be responsible for providing support with data cleanup and data maintenance, as well as provide support on special projects as assigned by the Cost Accounting team or the Finance Team.
Job Duties:
Work within a cross-functional team environment to gather information with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.
Assist with organizing and analyzing cost of expenditures and tracking fixed costs.
Provide support with ongoing maintenance and clean-up of data.
Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries
Perform other job-related duties as requested.
Qualifications
Basic to mid-level understanding of accounting/finance concepts would be an asset
Attention to detail, superior organizational skills, critical thinking skills, combined with the ability to multi-task required
Ability to work independently and cohesively in a team
Ability to work in timeline driven environment
Excellent analytical/modeling and communication skills
Previous experience using an ERP system would be an asset
Strong computer skills with proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
Willingness to learn and be coached.
Education
Preference given to candidates who are enrolled in a post-secondary program pursuing a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance.

Job Description
- Work with the Inbound and Procurement Team to ensure ingredient inventories remain at levels appropriate for manufacturing requirements and working capital goals.
- Make quarterly proposals for safety stock, which are appropriate to manufacturing requirements and are within working capital targets. Input proposals to M3.
- Set up agreements in M3. Monitor, modify and terminate contracts as needed.
- Plan and release purchase orders in M3 for the assigned ingredients based on M3 proposals on a timely basis prior to receipt and consistent with supplier and transit order lead-time.
- Review MRP proposals. Determine, update and register call off sequences.
- Update and confirm the shipping dates with the suppliers and the delivery date in M3.
- Make quarterly proposals of costing elements and set it up in M3 after approval.
- Work with inbound and RM planner to solve invoice quantity mismatch issues.
- Make proposals for standard cost and communicate it with the formulation and accounting teams after approval.
- SOP update for the relevant tasks.
- Develop knowledge with the material plan and its impact on purchasing.
- Review supplier selection and work with quality dept. on supplier approval.
- Document complaints and return order to supplier.
- Receive information on credit note and close claim.
- Vendor management and supplier performance review.
- PQA management.
- Collect and report on supplier performance data.
- Run power BI reports for appropriate tasks and business analysis.
- Maintain raw material item settings, lead time and safety stock levels.
- Provide analysis on historic spend and inbound freight cost.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a Purchasing or Supply Chain role.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Completion of an Operations Management Program and/or Supply Chain accreditation would be considered an asset.
