The Opportunity:

We are looking for a versatile senior software engineer who will work across the many high-impact projects the hiring team is responsible for. This candidate needs to display leadership and self-motivation qualities and be enthused to take on new problems across various languages and platforms. They will contribute to the tooling, platforms and applications produced by the team to support OpenText’s products and engineers alike. As a senior software developer in this team, you will be contributing to:

The OpenText OT2 Platform, OpenText’s next-generation Information Management as a Service platform that enables the development of multi-tenant SaaS Applications by internal and external developer communities
Bridging the gap between product development teams and Cloud Operations teams, with a specific focus on accelerating time to market, reliability engineering, Technology Obsolescence management and reducing software failures
DevOps practices incorporate Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Continuous Testing and Continuous Monitoring to improve Reliability and Time to Fix incidents

You are great at:

Designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving cloud-first software infrastructure and solutions.
Developing or exploiting a PaaS (Platform as a Service) capability that enables delivery of new service capabilities and facilitates the development of Applications
Embedding DevOps and Agile practices with experience in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment in a face-paced, working across multiple stakeholders developing and operating Services and SaaS Applications
Building highly maintainable, easy-to-understand code in the cloud, including web services.
Working in an Agile methodology.
Being proactive – willing to work on any problem, and willing to find solutions when they fall outside your area of direct expertise
Working as a member of a team and pitching in to ensure the team succeeds with its commitments
Mentoring junior team members with regard to code design, testing and standards.
Working with multiple internal engineering and operational teams to understand and respond to their needs around the platforms and applications maintained by the hiring team.
Keeping a level head in a pressured environment
Working with geographically dispersed teams

What it takes:

Required qualifications

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of relevant work experience
Experience working in development projects.
Proficiency in modern languages including Java, JavaScript, etc.
Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
Familiarity with professional software engineering practices across the entire development life cycle; coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing.
Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.

Preferred qualifications

Experience developing software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.
Experience working in DevOps and CI/CD pipeline automation.
Working with and developing for major cloud platforms such as K8s, Cloud Foundry, Anthos, etc.
Experience with Java microservices in Spring Cloud and Spring Boot
Development experience designing, developing and maintaining REST-based interfaces and their clients
Familiarity with cloud computing. SaaS and PaaS.
Experience working in Cloud Services of AWS, Azure, and GCP
Strong interest, and the ability to, learn other coding languages, databases, platforms and tools as needed.
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.
Experience with network programming, WebSockets, reactive programming.

Job Description

OVERVIEW

As a member of OpenText’s Corporate Accounting team, you will support and lead the team in their daily tasks and serve as the primary contact for cross-functional projects and process improvement. You will take a lead role in preparing timely and accurate management and operational financial reports. This will include recording, reviewing, and analyzing the company expense related to employees in the company GL and account reconciliations. You will also assist in ensuring standard processes are properly documented and functioning as expected. You will identify areas for process improvement and lead integration projects from a corporate accounting perspective throughout the year

What you will do

Prepare, review and approve monthly payroll journal entries to record the company expense related to employees into the company GL
Analyze month over month and quarter over quarter variances of relevant payroll accounts and prepare commentary for management reporting purposes
Be involved in balance sheet assurance for internal and external reporting purposes
Ensure payroll related balance sheet reconciliations are up to date, easy to understand and that historical items are cleared in a timely manner
Liaise with internal and external auditors as part of the quarter end review process
Develop close working relationships with cross functional teams, and onboard and train new team members
Review team SOPs on a scheduled basis ensuring compliance with existing SOX controls and make updates as required
Act as Corporate Accounting Lead on acquisitions, mergers, integrations and other special projects as required

Skills and Knowledge

Detail-oriented work, and able to perform under tight timelines and with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a co-operative team member
Effectively communicate information and ideas, particularly in written correspondence
Demonstrate logic and analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve problems

What it takes

5+ years of relevant experience with solid US GAAP/ accounting knowledge
Bachelor’s or College degree in Accounting
Candidate must possess a CPA designation (or current enrollment)
Strong understanding of payroll processes is a favorable asset
Computer literate with high proficiency in MS Office applications – excel is required.
Experience in SAP is required
Project management experience is a plus
