Here’s how a Recruitment Specialist for our North American Headquarters located in either Edmonton, AB or Toronto contributes to our team:

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Building key talent pipelines through continuous sourcing.
  • Researching and recommending new sources for both active and passive candidates.
  • Managing a high volume of requisitions in multiple locations across Canada.
  • Screening and qualifying top candidates to present to HR stakeholders and hiring managers.
  • Representing the PCL brand and employee value proposition to create an excellent candidate experience and position PCL as an employer of choice.
  • Supporting international recruitment efforts.
  • Providing analytics and reporting to stakeholders to highlight trends, opportunities and challenges related to recruitment efforts.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Post secondary diploma or degree in human resources or a related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a high-volume recruitment role. Experience supporting recruitment in multiple locations would be considered an asset.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • A proven track record of successfully sourcing hard to find candidates.
  • Previous experience recruiting construction professionals would be considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English (oral/written) an asset.

  • Interpreting technical requirements to design and implement high quality, maintainable software for various business needs.
  • Following and identifying opportunities for process improvement.

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in a related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience with Web based client to Web API service development:
  • “RESTful” API architecture and Angular framework SPA development experience a strong asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to think logically and analytically, and to constructively express ideas and concepts.
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize own work.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and within constraints.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team by collaborating to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to learn business processes and requirements for a project and make recommendations.

We’re also looking at what’s next for you and how we can help you build a career you’re proud of. We are seeking someone to analyze risk and l ead our estimating team through the execution of large complex maintenance project bids and proposals.
As an Estimator for our Melloy District Office in Nisku, AB, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Executing pressure vessel,  furnace, reactor, piping, structural, turnarounds, maintenance and fabrication proposals.
  • Leading the development of an estimate bid submission.
  • Acting as a liaison with clients and project management for estimate requirements.
  • Reviewing special proposal requirements and making recommendations.
  • Organizing bid closing assignments to meet submission deadlines.
  • Conducting a detailed analysis of the contract documents and specifications, to determine overall project requirements and identifying any associated risk factors, including the monitoring of published addendums that may alter the original scope of the project.
  • Completing final bid submission to the client (in conjunction with the Chief Estimator as needed).
  • Interpreting isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Preparing quantity take-offs, reports, and presentations.
  • Establishing a critical path schedule, including milestone dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates for projects.
  • Developing work plans, execution methodology, etc.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline
  • 6-8 years of experience in industrial construction/maintenance cost estimating
  • General construction knowledge; understands specifications, methods and procedure
  • Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take off procedures, trade contractor procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures
  • Experience estimating multiple self-perform work disciplines and overall knowledge of each
  • Ability to work in a busy team environment
  • Attention to detail and the ability to creatively solve problems
  • Strong computer skills; especially well versed with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Good workload management
  • Desire to take on challenges
