Here’s how a(n) Integrated Construction Technology Specialist for our BC Region office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
Adhering to and actively fostering collaborative project workflow process with project partners across all teams, subcontractors and within the PCL teams.
Coordinating with Document Controller for daily information flow between designers and constructors.
Ensuring multidiscipline construction technologies (including models, tools, and practices are current and standards are being adhered to, to meet construction needs.
Coordinating and managing trade detailing and design deliverables.
Collaborating with estimating on model compliance checking and validation.
Establishing and setting up the trade partner model coordination process that includes shop and fabrication model review and hands over to project teams.
Creating and coordinating the processing of (RFIs) with the project team.
Sharing new technologies with project teams and seeks to drive adoption of PCL technologies through operational processes.
Valuing and modelling the solution provider and profitability culture.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree, diploma or 2 year certificate in a buildings-industry related discipline (e.g., architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), civil, architectural).
5 to 7 years of construction related experience including 2 to 3 years of VirtualDesign and Construction related experience.
Strong understanding of construction sequences.
Awareness of and some involvement in implementing construction technology.
Ability to provide project model management.
Ability to ensure the quality of virtual design and construction models from design and trade partners.
Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications and translate 2D drawings and specifications into a complete 3D/4D BuildingInformation Model.
Intermediate knowledge in 3D modelling software and training and ability to create content in VDC software.
Experience with 4D scheduling software and planning tools.
Ability to provide input into Building Information Model (BIM) execution plan.
Ability to read and understand the construction model and scope to create and apply a VDC schedule.

Perform quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress and reporting.
Maintain contract with select subcontractors and is responsible for subcontract administration, including define work scope, answer inquiries and monitor progress.
Review and understand contract obligations as per the responsible work scope.
Participate in change management and change order process, including pricing, processing and assessing cost and scheduling impact before reviewing with project manager.
Participate in building and monitoring the project master schedule. Review other schedule scope impacts.
Consult with designers/engineers when reviewing drawings and suggest value-added or alternative construction methods or materials.
Collaborate with project manager in creating and issuing tender packages and subcontracts and monitoring their progress.
Maintain and perform project document control and procedures (administering RFIs, shop drawing and submittal process; maintaining as- built drawings, etc.).
Collaborate with the project team lead in monitoring the design team for timely response to the submittal schedule.
Participate in reviews of subcontractors’ submittals for compliance with scope, design documentation, and coordinate with other disciplines against the design documentation prior to forwarding to the design team for their review.

Qualifications
1-3 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline: construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques; drawings and specifications; project health, safety and environment (HSE); quality; building materials; and required standards as per discipline.
Understands, applies and manages means and methods and construction sequences.
Understands and applies engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
Understanding and general application of building codes.
Strong verbal and written communication with supervisors, subcontractors and direct reports.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Has decision-making authority and ability to present advanced solutions.
Planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work and delegate simple tasks.
Ability to create a comprehensive schedule.

As an Estimator for our Melloy District Office in Nisku, AB, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Executing pressure vessel,  furnace, reactor, piping, structural, turnarounds, maintenance and fabrication proposals.
  • Leading the development of an estimate bid submission.
  • Acting as a liaison with clients and project management for estimate requirements.
  • Reviewing special proposal requirements and making recommendations.
  • Organizing bid closing assignments to meet submission deadlines.
  • Conducting a detailed analysis of the contract documents and specifications, to determine overall project requirements and identifying any associated risk factors, including the monitoring of published addendums that may alter the original scope of the project.
  • Completing final bid submission to the client (in conjunction with the Chief Estimator as needed).
  • Interpreting isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Preparing quantity take-offs, reports, and presentations.
  • Establishing a critical path schedule, including milestone dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates for projects.
  • Developing work plans, execution methodology, etc.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline
  • 6-8 years of experience in industrial construction/maintenance cost estimating
