Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY:  

RBC Capital Market is looking for a highly skilled Data Architect to join the central Data Architecture team. Mandate includes leading a product team that focuses on tooling and onboarding of data requestsof Business Analysts and Data modelers with a focus on standad standardizing data (Primary & Derived Data entities) within the Capital Market domain (includes but not limited to Trades/Orders/RFQ’s, Calculated Results such as Risk and Profit and loss reporting) and other structured & unstructured datasets used for analytics.  He/She will be required to engage with senior Data Architects, IT System Owners, Business Analysts, Data Stewards, Data Owners  to drive the standardization effort  across different Lines of Busi ness (LOB’s) and functions (Front Office, Operations, Market Risk & Finance etc.)

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Lead the DCM team in Halifax. Lead the hiring activity. Drive Front to back engagement across QTS & Functions
  • Manage Data Triage/ Data Fabric onboarding requests via PAR process & other major initiatives
  • Socialization & ratification of new Data Domains, prescriptions for Data Formats, Validation Rules and Data Architecture topics to the Data Content & Modeling Committee (DCMC)
  • Act as product owners for tooling in the Data space i.e. Collibra, Rochade, AB Initio, FINOS Legend etc.
  • Develop & maintain target operating models with Data Governance, CDO, Front Office Surveillance & Info Security etc.
  • Support for Data Lineage
  • Lead meetings with Senior stakeholders to gather requirements, drive alignment, analyze, summarize and subsequently work out the details with implementation teams in an Agile manner.
  • Support the teams leading the  Data Inventory, Cataloging & Classification  process for data entities owned by Capital Markets with common tooling
  • Candidate will provide senior leadership with a clear overview of program status and outline project risks as they see them.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Overall from 15+ years of data architecture experience and 5+ years in a lead role managing  a team of business analysts/data modelers
  • Cross Asset experience of Cash and Derivative Products (Rates, Credit, and Derivatives), Commodities, Equities etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying data modeling techniques and best practices
  • Extensive experience with physical data modeling for Batch, Low latency use cases, document databases and big data (Hadoop) stack
  • Knowledge of Data Cataloging process & data classification process. Hand’s on experience with Data Cataloging tools such as Collibra, Rochade, AB Initio is a plus
  • Candidate should be a hands on practitioner with good working knowledge of Data Modeling tools such as PowerDesigner, XML, UML
  • Candidate must have past experience and track records of successful delivery in Capital Markets

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Cross Asset class experience and product knowledge
  • Knowledge of prior regulatory regimes
