Job Summary:

To operate the assigned position (s) within the Tube Park safely and efficiently while providing guests of Whistler Blackcomb with courteous and friendly service. Positions include: Starter, Lift Operator, and Ticket Validator. To achieve and maintain the highest standards; requires dedication to the Team in a very challenging environment.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $20 / hour

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain a high quality, friendly and cooperative relationship with guests, the crew and other mountain staff.
  • Adhere to all operational and safety procedures; ensuring safe efficient operation of the lift and park.
  • At every opportunity, greet each and every guest in a friendly manner, making eye contact whenever possible.
  • Provide physical assistance to guests when required.
  • Strive to assist the guest before the guest asks.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining all operational aspects of the Tube Park including tubing lanes, pedestrian areas, signs.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the Tube Park including tool storage, spectator area, and park buildings.
  • Generally provide a groomed, uncluttered, litter-free environment.
  • Notify Supervisor/Lead Hand immediately of any unsafe, unusual, abnormal situations or incidents.
  • Prepare and complete required documents.
  • Inform Supervisor/Lead Hand if work areas are in need of tools, equipment or any special attention.
  • Continually remain aware of the guest and their position in relation to tubing lanes, the conveyor lift, and anywhere else with the tubing park.
  • Perform all tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Lead Hand.
  • Comply with all procedures and policies as set out in the Employee Handbook.
  • Attend all employee meetings.
  • Strive to continually improve in safety, service and job satisfaction.
  • Carry out all responsibilities with the highest level of professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess excellent employee and public relations skills and be of a friendly and cooperative nature.

  • Must be able to reason and react with quick, thoughtful judgment, while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Must have a strong command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Must be capable of performing physical/manual duties and meet the grooming standards.
  • Enjoy working outdoors and maintaining high service standards during inclement weather conditions

As of Nov. 15, 2021, Vail Resorts will be requiring all employees across North America to be vaccinated for COVID-19.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist with trail maintenance, trail and feature construction, trail irrigation
Ensures that all trail features are functional at all times
Utilizes hand tools, may also routinely utilize power tools such as chain saws, grinders, cutting equipment, and heavy equipment in simple terrain
Conducts water quality inspections and performs necessary tasks to ensure and maintain water quality integrity
Assist with medical emergencies as needed.

Qualifications:

Expert mountain bike skills required as well as ability to test some bike features.
Valid driver’s license
Eligible to operate all required company vehicles
Preferred: Intermediate carpentry skills
Preferred: Know how to shape jump take offs, landings and berms
Preferred: Be able to read trail or feature plans and build under limited supervision
