Job Description

The Role: Wealth Relationship Manager

  • The Wealth Relationship Manager (WRM) provides exceptional service to current and potential members by offering a full range of deposit, investment, and credit advice. The WRM identifies the member’s place in their lifecycle, engaging in rich discovery conversations, and recommending solutions to meet their customized needs. This must happen while working with a broad network of specialists, in a seamless, collaborative way, to provide a holistic advice experience.
  • Relationship building is key as is being relatable, to provide individualized advice or engage with the appropriate specialist colleague. The WRM will manage member contact in-person, over the phone and virtually with comfort, maintaining a forward-looking approach to their contact plan. The WRM will be able to process a full range of complex transactions that include both credit and a broad range of socially responsible investment products. This role is about continuing with an AMs current advice-based solutions, while improving their knowledge to offer a wider diversity of solutions (both sides of the balance sheet).
  • The WRM will support branch goals by proactively bundling Vancity products and services, actively participating in campaigns and member offers, while working with a diverse network of internal specialists. Deep efforts to uncover opportunities and refer are imperative to the role’s success. The WRM will be able to complete a wide range of tasks — including completion of credit applications, managing estates, identifying need for early-stage financial planning, servicing socially responsible investment products, while maintaining availability in-branch to support new and existing members. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to effectively connect with all members without bias and provide coaching to peers.

 A typical day would involve:

  • Meet with branch team to celebrate results, educate, recognize, and coach.
  • Meet with and understanding each member’s complete cashflow to determine their unique immediate, secondary, needs.
  • Provide relevant, tailored advice that is documented in CRM and part of an advice and relationship continuum (a routinized business development lifecycle), not a one-off transaction. All interactions should be focused on results and should end with a “and next time we meet we will” vs a closed-ended good-bye.
  • Proactive connection with members to understand needs and provide relevant advice (this should be very focused on improving results across all lines of business, increasing the number of lines of business serving all members as well as number of services each member holds).
  • Engage with partners across the organization to present a full spectrum of advice, always pushing oneself to better present areas of the business and solutions you are less comfortable with.

You are:

  • Inquisitive, curious, creative, driven to improve.
  • Have or are developing a passion for capital markets, investing and personal finance and broadening your understanding of all solutions.
  • Personable and outgoing, relatable, bringing your lived experience to your interactions, demonstrating you are a strong communicator (including internal communication through CRM).
  • Aware of your biases and always working to remove them from your interactions. Assumptions about values, future goals, and lifestyle, must be replaced with curiosity to discover.
  • Passionate about developing long-term, loyal relationship for the enterprise (not just with you).
  • Collaborative by nature in all aspects of your work and always helping others to be the same. Attentive not just to the needs you can serve, but also to the needs that will need to be fulfilled by your colleagues.
  • Analytical and a confident decision maker.

You have:

  • University degree, on-the-ground business development experience (cold-calling included), lived-experience that may improve our ability to better serve under-served segments, relationship management experience.
  • Hold an active MFDA License (IFIC or CSC).
  • Two years in an Account Manager role, or equivalent, providing tailored financial advice to a broad range of members
  • Proven track record of proactive business development and member prospecting with equivalent sales results
  • Have a passion for understanding our members’ unique needs and providing tailored advice
