Job Description

Who we are:
At Wagepoint, we’re good people. Sure, maybe we’re biased. But that’s only because Wagepointers bring the best versions of ourselves to do some of the best work in our careers.
We’re an authentic team who bring our diverse backgrounds, ideas, experiences and cultures together to make payroll magic. Speaking of, we “pull rabbits out of hats” for thousands of small business owners across the US and Canada who rely on our payroll software to pay their employees and process their payroll taxes. And we’re just getting started.
We’re growing and looking for more awesome people to join our merry band of misfits. We are looking for people who share our understanding that when it comes to our commitment to our customers: we mean business. Especially given that the consequences of getting payroll wrong can sometimes be dire.
If you are the kind of person who has always wanted to make a difference and be heard at work, Wagepoint will give you plenty of opportunity to do just that.
The Role at High-Level:
We are looking for someone who doesn’t shy away from tackling hard problems and interesting (well, most times!) subjects like payroll and HR technology. We’re currently seeking a Risk Analyst to join our team on a Fixed Term (Full Time) Contract. They will report directly to our Risk Manager.

Being a Risk Analyst for Wagepoint means acting as a “gate-keeper” of sorts, ensuring that all sign-ups pass your checks before the clients run their first payroll. You are responsible for protecting Wagepoint as well as its clients, and ensuring that information is not being misused in any way, while consistently applying internal risk and control policies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will have major involvement in the risk portion of our customer onboarding process by completing a research and analysis assessment of new clients
  • Communicating effectively with clients and bankers to verify account information for payroll processing purposes
  • Financial risk analysis: reviewing high payroll amounts on a regular basis and following up with clients as needed
  • Identifying and communicating fraud trends and patterns to management and peers
  • Generating daily reports for management, for data maintenance as well as fraud/risk prevention
  • Identifying risky/fraudulent accounts and preparing reports for the management team as needed
  • Adhering to internal risk and control policies to ensure the protection of the organization
  • Ad hoc tasks as they come up (as with most small teams, we wear many hats!)

What you bring to the table:

  • 1+ years of work-related experience in fraud/risk
  • High-Paced and Pressure-filled environment at times; ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Work very well as part of a team and individually
  • Work effectively remotely with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients; minimum of 2 years customer service experience (both phone and by email)
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment given the information provided by prospective clients and research findings
Bonus points if:
  • Ability to “think outside the box”
  • Ability to research effectively online
  • Microsoft Excel Experience is a huge asset
  • Ability to speak, read and write French is a huge asset
  • Previous experience/knowledge in the Payroll Industry is a strong asset

What we bring to the table:

  • The opportunity to collaborate with a team of passionate creatives and marketers to develop and optimize our website — Wagepoint’s online sales engine, viewed by tens of thousands of people per month.
  • The ability to work from home, forever! Wagepoint is a remote company, so you don’t have to worry about commuting to an office. Plus, more time with your pets is always a bonus!
  • An autonomous work environment: We’re a growing startup —  so we’ll be looking to you to roll up your sleeves and dive right in! No red tape, just bring your great ideas and your powerful work ethic.
  • An endless amount of laughter — we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We work hard, but we always have time for a bad joke or two.
Next steps:

If all the above feels right and proper, please don’t feel like you need to send us an uninspired cover letter. Just send us your updated resume and tell us what really excites you about this position – we really want to get to know who you are, not just about how we can work together.  If we believe you’re a good match, someone from our team will reach out to schedule a call.

Psssst!
