Job Description

This position is eligible for remote work, within Canada, under our mobile workforce program.

The Product Owner is a critical member of the Integration & API team maximizing the value of technology and products. Product Owners assume several roles, including business strategist, product designer, analyst, business stakeholder liaison, and project manager.

The successful candidate must exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoy challenges, and be results driven.

Key deliverables include: 

Leads the delivery of prioritized features and improvements for a set of technology products
Coordinates a team of internal and external resources for development, delivery, and operations
Collaborates with various resources on technology design and implementation
Creates and maintains the technology product backlog
Ensures product(s) are maintained and operating as designed
Responsible for working with stakeholders to define and prioritize stories for new and enhanced features
Aligns scope and timelines for each technology release
Creates and maintains a product roadmap aligning various teams and stakeholders
Influence and assist in the development of the strategic vision for technology product’s
Provide analysis and implementation recommendations for all product and technologies within their domain
Develop and present reports and recommendations to stakeholders
Responsible for communication updates for stakeholders related to the product(s)

Experience and qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree (Technical/Business) or equivalent work experience
8+ years’ experience working in a project management or product delivery role in technology
4+ years’ experience working on an integration team
4+ years’ experience working with integration systems Azure API Management, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Function Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure AKS and Kafka
Experience in business analysis and software development in a mid to large enterprise environments
Recognized experience in overseeing the planning, design, development and/or implementation of application software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Strong communication (both verbal and written), and interpersonal skills are essential to interact with vendors, support, and business groups
Highly organized and able to multi-task in a high pressure, fast paced and cross-functional environment
Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented, environment
Solid understanding of ITIL processes and documentation standards
PMP Certification is an asset
Change Management Certification is an asset
Advanced knowledge and experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Advanced knowledge and experience with SCRUM/Agile framework
Advanced knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
Excellent detailed written and verbal communication skills.

WestJet is seeking a Junior Project Manager reporting into our Project Management office. This individual can demonstrate a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

As an up and coming Project Manager within the Project Management Office (PMO) team, you work closely with a senior resource and provide support on large, complex projects with business process improvements, technology and/or operational components. You will provide project leadership and support strategic initiatives crossing business areas and operational teams to assist in defining project objectives, ensure timely completion of projects and measure results.     • Basic knowledge and demonstration of PMI core competencies for project management.
    • A University degree in IT, Business, Engineering, Economics or Social Sciences is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

As a Software Developer, you will create and maintain delivery of services to support application programming interfaces (API’s). You will be responsible for maximizing code reusability while also considering design, deployment, and testability. You will also be acting as a DevOps resource designing, implementing, deploying and supporting infrastructure as code to deliver APIs to our users. Apply industry-standard processes, practices and techniques. Work with the development team and business stakeholders to develop appropriate software systems that meet WestJet’s business, technical and quality requirements. Key deliverables include:

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance systems that support the digital functions of the company;
Design and document APIs, leveraging a standard API documentation framework (OpenAPI);
Leverage existing API design patterns or modify them to maintain organization consistency;
Automate and document troubleshooting of production applications;
Implement and design CI/CD pipelines to automate delivery of our APIs;
Ensure that all APIs are fully tested in an automated framework, including functional and performance tests;
Focus API solution delivery to use cloud-based solutions;
Actively participate in the creation, implementation and ongoing evolution of WestJet’s design and development methodologies, coding standards and style guidelines.

Experience and qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required;
