A day in the life:
You’ll be executing advanced geotechnical soils testing including triaxial shear, consolidation, direct shear, hydraulic conductivity and various other stress/strain analysis using both automated and manual operating systems;
You’ll be progressing your skills in support of High Complexity Foundations Engineering RAQs (MTO) laboratory and operator approvals;
You’ll be working closely with the high complexity soils team as well as provincial and national geotechnical engineering teams and laboratory teams;
You’ll be actively participating in the laboratory quality assurance program including;
regularly maintaining and supporting the internal laboratory quality process, promoting a high level of quality in your day to day and adhere to the requirements of the laboratory quality manual.

successfully participating in CCIL/MTO audits and inspections to maintain and grow laboratory accreditation
You’ll be completing accurate analysis and reporting in accordance with recognized provincial and industry standards;
You will always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites and take WSP’s Life Saving rules to heart;
We’d love to hear from you if you have …
Your bachelor’s or master’s degree in geotechnical/geological engineering or related technical discipline;
Extensive, well-demonstrated experience in advanced soils and rock testing to Ontario standards including triaxial shear, direct shear, consolidation, hydraulic conductivity and high complexity soils and bedrock testing;
CCIL certification for soils and aggregates, and experience with MTO correlations and MTO referee testing in CCIL certified laboratories;
Previous experience in procuring and installing advanced soils laboratory testing equipment;
Acute attention to detail with an ability to independently prepare accurate testing reports and the aptitude to remain highly organized and work with competing priorities;
Detailed knowledge of laboratory safety protocols;

As an Administrative Specialist, you will value the importance of maintaining an organized, efficient office environment on behalf of your colleagues. You will be a stand-out brand ambassador for WSP, ensuring a welcoming environment for staff, vendors and visitors alike.
Your administrative abilities will be demonstrable through your high proficiency in using Excel to accurately capture sensitive data and help to develop user-friendly information databases for a number of key uses.
This is an opportunity for an Administrative Specialist who is keen to develop a career in Office Administration, working in a fast-paced, demanding environment where your efforts will contribute to the success of one of Canada’s leading engineering firms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide administrative tracking for all Vendors and Landlords in your region;
- Work with Office Reps to assist with vendor management and vendor replacement where needed;
- Work to confirm contact placement where possible for vendors and manage online database of collected information;
- Act as Facilities coordinator delegate for liaison with building management to communicate day to day issues that arise, e.g. elevators down, fire drill etc.;
- Manage actions assigned on security access system and office asset such as: workstations, offices, staff lockers, parking of company and employee vehicles;
- Assist the facilities manager in monitoring and managing costs to meet budget;
- Assist and oversee mail /courier operations on site;
- Greet and direct clients and visitors in a cordial and professional manner;
- Answer phone calls, operate switchboard, and respond to inquiries;
- Provide general administrative and clerical support, as required; and
- Support ad-hoc requests for assistance from the facilities management team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed High School Diploma;
- Completion of a post-secondary Diploma related to Office Administration is desirable;
- Demonstrable administrative capabilities related to Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup etc.)
- Strong expertise in use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and PowerPoint; and Positive attitude and a desire to succeed in a Corporate environment is essential.
